BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is charged with hearing requests and issuing decisions on variances for proposed land uses or developments that do not comply with current local zoning code, and to hear and issue decisions on appeals of any order, requirement, decision, interpretation, or determination made by the Zoning Officer.

The BZA's regularly scheduled meetings are on the third Wednesday of each month starting at 7:00 p.m.
Meetings are held at Ulysses Town Hall, 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg, New York, and the public may join in person or via Zoom at:

The BZA consists of seven members appointed by the Town Board, 5 regular and 2 alternates.

Members are required to be a resident of the Town, receive a small annual stipend, and the terms served are staggered: 5-years for regular members and 1 year for alternates. Chairs are appointed annually.
Knowledge of the current local zoning code and application of municipal law and/or other rules and regulations is helpful but not required.
Letters of Interest to serve as a member of the BZA, along with a complete application, may be sent to the Town Clerk.
