VACANCIES- Boards & Committees

BOARD & COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITIES:
If you or someone you know are interested in any of the following boards/committees, please submit a volunteer application.
 

Comprehensive Plan Update Committee:

Seeking members of the agricultural community and local business community to be part of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. The update to the Comprehensive Plan is anticipated to take approximately 18 months to complete; beginning in early 2023 with adoption in summer 2024. Committee meetings will average once a month but may be more frequent at key points during the planning process.  For questions, please contact Katelin Olson Town SupervisorLiz Weatherby Town Board member, and/or Niels Tygesen Town Planner.

 

 Ag Committee:

Interested candidates should be either a land owner with lands used for agricultural purposes, a farmer, or someone with interest in farming issues. The key role of Ag Committee members is to advise and assist the Town Board and other agencies on implementing the recommendations of the Agriculture and Farmland Protection Plan and to advise the Board on matters impacting agriculture in the Town of Ulysses. The Town will begin the planning process to update the Comprehensive Plan in early 2023 and wants to ensure the agricultural community’s voice is heard by town government and has the opportunity to weigh in on issues during this process. For questions, please contact either Mary Bouchard, Town Board member, Liz Weatherby, Town Board member, and/or Niels Tygesen, Town Planner.

 

 Planning Board:

2 alternate positions (1-year appointment) are available.  Some of the duties of the Planning Board include:

o   The review of, and issuing decisions on, various land use permits including site plan review and special use permits;

o   The review of, and providing recommendations to the Board of Zoning Appeals on, variance applications, and

o   The review of, and providing recommendations to the Town Board on, the Town’s broad planning goals, policies and long-range plans, such as the Comprehensive Plan, rezones, and zoning code revisions.

The Planning Board typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month, and periodically on the 3rd Tuesday as needed. Questions can be sent to Town Planner Niels Tygesen and/or Town Supervisor Katelin Olson

 

Board of Zoning Appeals:

1 alternate position (1-year appointment) is available. Some of the duties of the Board of Zoning Appeals include:

o   The review of, and issuing decisions on variance requests related to property use and certain development standards; and

o   The review of, and issuing decisions on appeals of decisions, interpretations, and determinations of the Zoning Officer.

The Board of Zoning Appeals typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Questions can be sent to Town Planner Niels Tygesen and/or Town Supervisor Katelin Olson
